Easter in Leeds

The pancakes have been tossed and the shelves are stacked with chocolate eggs which can only mean one thing… Easter is just around the corner.

Alongside the traditional services which will be held in churches across Leeds, there are plenty of Easter activities and events taking place to keep grown-ups, kids and anyone stuck in-between entertained. Although our “what’s on” calendar is full of Easter ideas, we’ve pulled together a few of our top picks, to give you a heads start.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory – 29th March

Leeds Town Hall

It wouldn’t be Easter without a chocolatey treat and what better way to satisfy your sweet tooth than to explore Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory? In partnership with Sneaky Experience, Leeds Town Hall is set to be turned into this magical land of chocolate and sweets, with run ins with Oompah Lumpas and the main man himself along the way.

This live cinema event is part of Leeds Young Film Festival which runs across the Easter bank holiday weekend (25th -29th).

Easter Egg Jazz Jam – 27th March

Inkwell

In collaboration with local Jazz musicians and Seven Jazz, Inkwell extends its jazz events into an Easter edition to help you get into the swing of things. Inkwell invite you to come along and get your toes tapping and shoulders shimmying, whether you want to bring an instrument along and join in or just sit back and enjoy the jam.

Craft in the Café – 12th April

Otley Courthouse

If it’s craft you’re after, the Otley Courthouse have it well and truly covered. Get out the crepe paper and get the Pritt Stick at the ready for a morning of creativity.

From egg decorating, to Easter bonnets, they’ve all the tools to get you crafting and create something wonderful.

Royal Armouries Series: The Tournament – 2nd March

The Royal Armouries are providing the answer to any history buffs Easter plans this year. Their Easter talk comes from Senior Curator, Karen Watts, who will explore the change jousting underwent, from a training method for war, to a spectator sport.

Rapture: The First Wave – 26th March
