Words: Mr Luke Christian
Stuck on ideas for what to do this Easter Weekend? Well, why not take your family out for a day trip to Temple Newsam?
Temple Newsam is situated just outside of Leeds towards Colton and is a fun-filled day out full of activities suitable for any ages. It is a perfect place to bring together the whole family!
For this Easter Weekend, Temple Newsam will be hosting their annual ‘Springtime Babies’ Event which is now running right through until Monday 16th April. As part of the programme, from 10am-12noon there is a chance for you to ‘Meet The Newborns’ and is open again at 1pm-4pm so you don’t miss out.
You can also enjoy their ‘Chick Trail’ around the farm, win a special prize and have a chance to create your own fluffy chick in their Creative Workshops for you to take home!
Whilst the Easter festivities are taking place this weekend, you could also explore the stunning, grand Temple Newsam House where you can admire their beautiful paintings, furniture and silverware.
There are also free Audio Guides which will give more depth and an insight into the history of Temple Newsam and its surroundings whilst you stroll around the house.
Once you have admired the Temple Newsam House and all it has to offer, take a brief walk down the grounds to the largest rare breeds centre in the world – Home Farm! A perfect place to take children as this farm is completely child-friendly!
There you can expect to find animals such as rare and traditional sheep, cattle, pigs and poultry, a Georgian Dovecote which contains nesting holes for 2000 pairs of pigeons and also a playground for children to run wild around.
In between strolling through the grounds of Temple Newsam, you can break it up a little by having some afternoon tea and cake at their Stable Courtyard Tea Room with a Gift Shop which has lots of beautiful gifts for you to treat your loved ones to, or yourself!
Have you visited Temple Newsam before? Will you be visiting this Easter Weekend and taking part in the Easter activities? Do let us know your thoughts and what your plans are as we would love to hear from you!
