Spring flicks: what’s on at the cinema

Words: Mr Luke Christian
Even though it is ‘officially Spring’ we can’t help but wonder when it will begin to feel like it!? With the recent ‘Big Freeze’ and the ‘Cold Snap’, one of our favourite pastimes to beat the cold weather, is to feel all cosy whilst watching the latest movies at the cinema!

With recent big Blockbuster films such as Black Panther, Red Sparrow, Tomb Raider and The Greatest Showman, these action-packed films can be found in the comfort of EveryMan Cinema found on the top floor of Trinity Shopping Complex. Sprawled across many floors, EveryMan has an in-house restaurant which you can order food prior to watching your film, and they will bring it to you once it is ready!

More films currently screening at Everyman Cinema are: Lady Bird, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing – Missouri, I, Tonya.

If action-packed films aren’t necessarily your thing and you’re more of a fan of stylish, complex films, then perhaps an evening at Hyde Park Picture House might be more to your taste? Cosy up in this Grade II Listed building and watch the Oscar-winning film; The Shape Of Water. A film about a mute custodian who falls in love with a captured human-like amphibian creature, the film is complex and has received many nominations and awards and also features American Sign Language, which ties in perfectly with this weeks ‘Sign Language Week’!

Other films shown at Hyde Park Picture House are: You Were Never Really Here, Call Me By Your Name, Finding Dory, Moana Sing-A-Long (Autism Friendly)

In need of a good belly laugh? Then VUE at The Light found on the Headrow has many comedic films to choose from! The film Gringo features some big names such as Charlize Theron, Joel Edgerton and Harold Oyelowo (best known for his role in Star Trek.) A Nigeria-born American businessman is pushed to his limit by his bosses who fakes his own kidnapping to escape!

VUE is also currently screening: Game Night, Finding Your Feet, Walk Like A Panther.

Have you visited Everyman Cinema at Trinity, Hyde Park Picture House or VUE at The Light before? What did you go to see? Have you seen any of the films mentioned? If so, what did you think to them?

Do let us know as we would love to hear from you!
