About John Charles Centre for Sport
Leeds has a proud sporting heritage and the John Charles Centre for Sport in South Leeds honours John Charles (1931–2004), the former Leeds United, Juventus F.C. and Wales footballer.
The stadium has been used by Leeds United for reserve matches, and since November 1995 is home to the Hunslet Hawks rugby league club. It is the principal athletics stadium in the Leeds area and is the home of Leeds City Athletics Club. The sports facilties also include Leeds’ first ever indoor bowls centre, indoor athletics centre, eight-lane all-weather outdoor athletics track, indoor and outdoor tennis courts and multiple all-weather and grass surface pitches.
