About Music and Arts Production
“In school there’s more going on… so you get distracted easily, but in MAP, it’s smaller. When we’ve got an issue or a problem they’re there for you, and they know what you’re about. It’s a good vibe, and everyone gets along… It’s helped me to figure out what I have to do in life, and what not to do in life… After MAP, I’m going to back to school.”Kenny, student
MAP is a registered charity which delivers bespoke courses in art, design and music production for young people who have difficulties accessing mainstream education.
We believe in the combination of a wholesome yet structured learning programme with the use of innovative technologies and hands-on experience for our students. In addition to its regular courses, MAP offers many opportunities for local residents, artists and volunteers to get involved. By enabling the sharing of skills and experience between diverse members of the Leeds community, MAP has evolved into a wider arts hub which we believe is unique in the area.
We aim to create a platform for mutual encouragement and inspiration amongst individuals, providing a realistic route of progression to follow; after completing their course at MAP, many of our students have gone on to pursue further education or a career in the arts. Some have even returned to MAP as volunteers, demonstrating the overwhelmingly positive impact of their experiences with us.
